A Message from the President

April 2, 2020

Dear Colleagues…

Over the last two weeks, we have focused our efforts on setting up a fully virtual operation in the midst of the rapidly changing environment that we are all juggling, both personally and professionally. We are addressing meetings that were on the books and establishing a new approach to continue delivering on our mission.

In that time, the NJFPA has:

  • Collaborated with like-minded organizations to disseminate information on the essential status of our industry
  • Worked with event sites to postpone events through the end of May at limited cost to the association
  • Added a section of our website devoted to navigating COVID-19 on our site
  • Increased the frequency of our newsletter to weekly to be able to disseminate information with the fluidity of the situation

While these quick items were taking hold, our leadership has been in conversation and made the following decisions, working to balance health and safety with delivering value to our community.

  • All in-person events are canceled through the end of May

  • Our education committee is working to create meaningful virtual programming

There are some ways that you can engage with the NJFPA in the coming weeks….

  • Join us for a virtual town hall on Tuesday, April 7th (3 pm) that will focus on critical topics including:
      • The potential impact of the CARES Act on your business

      • Reducing absenteeism

      • Maintaining a safe and healthy workforce

      • Creating incentives to recruit new talent

  • This is just the first of what we expect to be a series of town hall meetings. Upcoming conversations will focus on    legal and financial issues, among other topics. Questions for next Tuesday’s town hall can be sent to [email protected]

  • Send us any resources that you think can help the community navigate through these changing times. Resources can be anything from white papers and fact sheets to tip sheets…or even recorded webinars. Send the materials to [email protected] and we’ll take care of the rest.

  • Share what’s going on in your companies with the NJFPA on Facebook and LinkedIn. We want to actively share stories about what’s going on throughout our industry.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any suggestions you might have about how we can both support our state, the NJFPA and your operations.

Best Wishes,

Mark Macellaro
