The Rutgers Food Innovation Center's reputation for food safety training is well known, did you know they also have consulting services? They can do FSMA, GMP or SQF Gap audits to help you prepare for the FDA, USDA or 3rd Party audits. They can review your Food Safety Plans and give recommendations on how to meet regulatory requirements.

NJFPA has established a partnership with Professional and Executive Education at Rutgers (PEER) where member organizations will receive a 15% discount on many of the certificate and program offerings in their catalog.

NJMEP and NJBIA completely filled the George Washington Room of Patriots Theatre at their annual State of the State event. But even a room that full only represented 2% of the manufacturing companies in NJ. (- NJMEP) Manufacturing is alive and well in NJ and its members are passionate about living and working in NJ and making NJ a better place to do business. 

The State of the State was not just a photo-op meet and greet, manufacturers took the stage and voiced real frustrations and stories of challenges they have faced. Hard questions were asked of both lawmakers in attendance and the media who report on these issues emphasizing the real offers coming in from other states and the urgency manufacturers faced to make decisions for their companies.

New NJMEP South Jersey Facility

NJMEP Expands Footprint With Opening of Second Office and Training Facility in Bellmawr

This new Bellmawr, NJ facility is fully staffed and ready to host professional development training courses and workshops. In addition to the NJ Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) suite of effective training options, the NJMEP Pro-Action Education TeamTM invested in innovative Augmented Reality welding equipment and CNC equipment to provide hands-on training to help alleviate the skills gap in these in-demand areas. On August 19th, NJMEP’s board and prominent state legislators were in attendance for a ribbon-cutting ceremony where they toured the facility and saw demonstrations of this ground-breaking new training equipment.

The Bellmawr facility has been given the name the ‘Chris DePace’ training center to commemorate one of NJMEP’s longest-running Account Managers who lost his life to COVID-19 complications. As South Jersey-based manufacturers recover from the disruptions caused by the pandemic, they can take advantage of the training being offered or consulting services available at the ‘Chris DePace’ training center in Bellmawr, New Jersey.

A Deep Dive discussion into the NEW FDA Regulations - CFR 117 subpart B offering Regulatory Views vs. Food Processing Concerns including changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presented by Rutgers Food Innovation Center 

CFR 117 (B) was just the first of many new food-related regulations that the FDA has released as part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and covers the basic requirements of the Good Manufacturing Practices, Adverse Health, personal hygiene and Allergen handling requirements for food handlers working in a food processing-type environment. Participants will learn how to better comply with FDA rules, while also earning a Rutgers Certificate of Training needed to show compliance with some of the new FDA training documentation requirements.

After a year of uncertainty and economic disruption, the restaurant industry has won federal relief. On March 11 President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law which includes a $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to assist struggling restaurants during the pandemic. The RRF impacts restaurant owners with 20 or fewer locations and will be administered by the Small Business Administration.

Cultivate Small Business was created to help early-stage entrepreneurs (focused on women, people of color, and immigrants) build food businesses. It’s like a mini MBA for food businesses and it’s completely FREE. This year it’s virtual and open to anyone in New Jersey.

When is it?
The 16-week program runs April - June 2021.

What do I get?
The program provides:
  • classes taught by Babson business professors
  • connections to mentors in the food industry
  • support from a network of entrepreneurs, and
  • the chance to apply for grants to support your business

Who runs this?
It’s a collaboration between 
Santander BankBabson CollegeCommonWealth KitchenLAEDA and ICIC.
